Dear Lorelai,

Thanksgiving was great! We really enjoyed it. The pies we made together turned out awesome! After we ate dinner we took a nap so we would be well rested to go shopping that night at midnight. I was gong to try to find a babysitter so you didn't have to stay up so late to go shopping with me, but the only people who have ever babysat you (Wela & Becca) were both working the sale. So we got to Walmart at about 9:45 so Wela could be at work on time. We walked around to see where they had all the good stuff put at. While we were there we saw Casey, Kelly & Jose. Casey hung out with us for most of the night until she had to leave with her mom. Kelly and Jose had never been to a midnight sale before, so t was funny to see their reactions. When Wela went on lunch at about 2:30 she drove us home. You keep saying you didn't want to go home, you wanted to stay and help Wela work and shop some more. Since you were such a good baby and you were so patient while we waited and waited and waited and shopped, I went ahead and gave you one of the DVDs I got you for a Christmas present. You opened up the movie, The Land Before Time: Great Adventures, and you were so excited. You really have been liking dinosaurs lately. I got you and your cousins a bunch of great presents for Christmas. I can't wait to give them to y'all. On Saturday we are gong to go to the Christmas Parade in the morning and we might go to Santa's Village that evening. Well, I guess that's about it for this week. Love you lots, baby!

Mommy

We took one of the pies, the chocolate, to Grandma Steph and Grandpa Dan. While Mommy was at school today you and Wela baked some cookies. The have snowmen on them. Now you are fast asleep and Mommy is hoping to also be, soon. Well, good night my precious baby. Mommy loves you!

Sleepless nights and sleepy days!

Dear Lorelai,

Man, we really need to be on better schedules! Yesterday morning Mommy woke up at 7:30 to register for Spring term classes and you woke up shortly after. We played for a while, but at about 11:30 you decided it was nap time so we both took a nap before I had to go to class. We woke up from our nap at 1:30 and as a result, almost missed my bus. Mommy went to school and you stayed home with Wela. When Mommy got home from school we watched a little TV together before you decided it was time for bed at 8:45. I was so excited you went to bed early because I was tired. Even though I was so tired I didn't get to sleep until about 1:00 AM...and then you woke up! I tried and tried to get you back to sleep, but you just wouldn't fall asleep. Finally at about 3:00 Wela came and got you out of the room and took you with her so could go back to sleep. When Mommy woke up this morning you were already awake and Wela had just fallen asleep. Wela sad you didn't fall back asleep until around SIX IN THE MORNING! Now here it is almost midnight, you haven't had a nap today and it looks like your energy isn't going to run out anytime soon. Mommy is exhausted and can't wait for the semester to be over with so maybe I can rest for a little while before I overload myself with 5 classes next semester! Well, babydoll, I think that's all for tonight, I'm going to try to get to to sleep now.

Lots Of Love,
Mommy

Pa Chuck

Dear Lorelai,

Yesterday was a very sad day for our family. Yesterday marked 18 years since my daddy, your Pa Chuck, died. I miss him very much! The thing that hurts the most about not having my daddy here with me, is the fact that you will never get to meet him. I decided to dedicate this weeks letter to tell you a little about your Grandpa.

This is a picture of Pa Chuck in the hospital shortly before he passed away. Pa Chuck was an awesome daddy, and if given the chance he would have been the best grandpa ever. He took care of his family the best he could. I was only seven when he died so I don't remember much about him, but here are a few things I do remember:

*We used to watch Star Trek together every night.
*We used to eat bacon sandwiches almost ever night at midnight.
*He rode a big black Harley.
*He picked me up from Pre-K and took me to Burger King for Burger Buddies all the time.
*He had long, frizzy hair (just like Alyssa) that he kept pulled back in several rubber bands.
*He had a pink t-shirt he liked to wear.
*He had big dimples in his cheeks. (Just like Brother Bear.)
*He had brown eyes. (Just like you.)

I'm really sorry baby, but that's all I can remember right now. I'll try to remember more later and add to this list later.

I guess I better stop this letter here so I don't start to cry. It always upsets you when I cry. When I cry, you always look at me sad and ask "Wrong, mommy?" Anyway, I love you always baby!

Love,
Mommy

Cell Phone Soup

Dear Lorelai,

This has been quite an eventful week for us! You broke my cell phone, we had a sleep over with a bunch of Alyssa's friends, went swimming at Daddy Becca's and today we went to get my school supplies then to the mall.

On Thursday I was making you some lunch, you asked for macaroni. I put a pot of water on to boil and we sat down to watch Elmo while waiting for it to boil. You asked if you could get up and lay, and of course, I said yes. You were riding your horse bike back and forth from the living room to the dining room having a blast. Well, you decided to take it into the kitchen and I didn't notice. (Bad Mommy!) When I put the water on to boil I left my phone on the kitchen counter. You used your horse bike to stand on and grabbed my phone and dropped it into the pot of water. So now, for the past week, Mommy hasn't had a cell phone.

Alyssa's "Back-To-School Sleep Over" was a lot of fun, but you're really not used to that many people all being here at once, so you got tired really quickly. There were 13 girls here. It was you, Alyssa and MyMy; Septembers girls Halie, Elizabeth and Rianna; Karissas girls Danica, Sophia and LyLy; the little girls from up stairs Melissa, Marissa and Valerie; and Alyssa's friend from school, Brea. Everybody played board games, watched movies and decorated cup cakes. I think Alyssa had the most fun ever at her sleep over.

Yesterday we went to Daddy Becca's apartment and went swimming all day. You had so much fun. You are fearless in the water. At Becca's pool there is a spot that is about 3 or 4 inches deep, it's so you can put a chair in the pool and keep your feet in the water. I tried keeping you in that part so you could play and be safe, but you wanted to jump in the deep end over and over again. Mommy, Becca, Alyssa and Wela kept a good eye on you though. After we got out of the pool we went to the grill to make chicken and hot dogs. While we were out at the grill Crystal and her friends, Erica & Veronica, left and accidentally locked us out. Becca had to get the apartment manager to let us in. You were so tired by the time we finished eating that you fell asleep in my arms while we were watching a movie.

Today my Financial Aid money finally came through so we went to my school and got my tool kit, uniforms and books for class, which starts on Monday. After that we went out to eat then walked around the mall for a couple of hours. We rented you one of those strollers that looks like a car. You loved 'driving' around the mall. When we got home we took a nap, and it was great. Now I'm ready to go back to bed.

Good night my sweet girl!

Love, Mommy!

Makin' Messes

Dear Lorelai,

This past week has been so crazy. Mommy had to make Auntie Jennifer's birthday cake and a cake for a friend for a baby shower. While I was baking and decorating cakes I let you and your cousins run around like crazy. The whole house ended up being one big mess. The kitchen and dining room looked like a bakery exploded, and the living room and our bedroom looked like three toddler tornadoes went through. But it's okay, because y'all had so much fun playing.

Wela, MyMy, Brother Bear, Alyssa, you and I went swimming yesterday, and man, let me tell you... You are fearless! You kept wanting to jump into the pool all by yourself. We couldn't stay long though, since your skin is so light, we were afraid you would burn.

Well, Baby Girl, I hate to make this so short, but I am tired and I'm sure you are too. Until next week...

Love You More Than Milk & Cookies

Our "Stay-Cation"

Dear Lorelai,

This week was supposed to be your very first camping trip, but things didn't go exactly as planned. Since we were not able to go camping we went to the Farmers Market, the Zoo and the Arboretum instead.

You always love going to the Market, but this time you had even more fun than usual because we took your wagon. You, Brother Bear and Kamaria all took turns riding in the wagon. Y'all had so much fun sampling all the different fruits and vegetables. I think your favorite was the mango, so Wela bought you one. I think I will make you some fruit salad tomorrow and add the mango in.

The night before we went to the Zoo I got your Zoo Animals puzzle out and we were playing with the pieces. I asked each of y'all which was your favorite animal. You picked up the giraffe and said you wanted to see him at the Zoo. We got up early the next morning and headed to the Zoo. We saw the gorillas, flamingos, elephants, zebras... and the giraffes. You even got to feed the giraffe. We played in the water for a little while, then everybody was getting tired so we left. You had so much fun at the Zoo with Mommy, Wela, Brother Bear and MyMy.

Yesterday we went to the Arboretum with Mommy, Wela, Aunt Heather and all of your cousins. We saw all of the pretty flowers and you and your cousins ran off and played in the grass. After that we ate lunch and played in the water. We stayed at the Arboretum for about 4 hours, but (as usual, since this is Texas) it got to hot and we had to leave.

You had an awesome week, even when we just stayed at home. You loved having Wela home for five nights in a row. Tonight is Wela's first night back to work, so now I have to work go wake her up.

With Love,
Mommy

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Dear Lorelai,

I had the idea to start this blog "Letter's To Lorelai" about 6 weeks ago, and ever since then I have been dying to write you a letter, but I wanted to wait until your birthday to officially start it. I want to use this blog to write a weekly update to you about your life, so maybe when you get older you can read this. I am going to [try to] update your blog every Wednesday. Please don't be upset if I miss a week here and there, taking care of a two year old is hard work! :-)

Today is your birthday, you turned two years old today. You had an awesome birthday. We went to PictureMe and had your pictures done again today. You weren't really to happy about it, but finally you let Ariel (the photographer) take your picture. After that we came home and Mommy baked you a cake, it was chocolate with chocolate. Right now you are in the bedroom playing with your cousins. Pretty much your day rocked! We took your dragon (it's really a wagon, but you call it a dragon) out today. We went to do laundry so you rode in your dragon with the clothes in it. Your favorite part was when we had to hop a curb to get on or off the side walk. You kept saying "Woo-ha!"

Maybe since this is the first "Letter" to you so far maybe I should tell you a little about yourself, up until this point. Let's see, you were born on July 28th, 2008 at 9:39PM. You were a very big baby, you weighed 9 pounds, 10.4 ounces. For your first month of life we lived in Mesquite, but soon after we moved to Pleasant Grove, which is where Mommy lived her whole life. We moved into an apartment on Lake June and lived there for almost 2 years. Just recently we moved again, to a bigger apartment, on Prairie Creek.

Your first birthday party was a "Princess" themed party. It was awesome! You had a lot of friends and family show up. You got a lot of awesome presents; cute clothes and cool toys. We just had your second birthday party, this past Saturday. We had an "Elmo Water Party" at Umphress Spray Park. Even though we told everybody no presents, they brought them anyway. You go a bunch of Elmo books, a lot of really cute clothes, some puzzles, an original "Tickle Me Elmo" and a wagon. You had so much fun at your party! You ran around playing with your friends and cousins for hours and by the time it was over you were so tired and ready for bed.

Well, my precious baby girl, I guess I better end this weeks letter because Alyssa just brought you and the Swirls into the living room to watch Elmo and I have homework to do still.

I love you forever and always!!!
Mommy
